Second Anniversary - Now
Today, marks Donald's second anniversary in going home. Fellow traveler David Levite sent Lise' a dozen white roses in remembrance. A very thoughtful gesture.
Thursday, June 7th, 2007 Donald was laid to rest. A very powerful service was held at St. Andrew Apostle Church in Silver Spring, Maryland. On June 9th St. Columba’s Day, I announced the start of this blog. How fitting as four years ago to the day that the 13 voyagers following in the wake of St. Columba’s Voyage would depart from Ireland for Scotland. As a way of honoring the memory of Donald McCallum, I took on the ambitious task of opening this blog, Remembering Donald that will give an account of the three Celtic Christian pilgrimages that I journeyed with Donald; In the Voyage of St. Columba (2003), In the Footsteps of St. Columba (2004) and In the search for Celtic Ogham Writings in the Hills of West Virginia (2005).
The blog will be a flashback to those adventures, but it will also share current events that Donald’s life continues to touch ours. If you were a participant please feel free to add your memories, add additional information or make corrections as you remember them. For all of you who knew Donald please leave your comments. For those of you who read this and didn’t know Donald but are touched by what you read. Let us know. Thank you, ern malcolm
